Red Bull Ring Track Map
Getting to the Red Bull Ring
The Red Bull Ring is located roughly five kilometres from the town of Spielberg in Austria’s Styria region. It’s about a one-hour drive – around 75 km (46 miles) – from the nearby city of Graz. Vienna, the country’s capital, sits approximately 200 km (124 miles) to the northeast of the circuit. While both Graz and Vienna have airports, Vienna’s offers a much wider range of direct international flights.
✈️ Travelling by plane to the Red Bull Ring
Graz Airport (GRZ) is the nearest airport to the Red Bull Ring and the most convenient option in terms of distance. However, its flight network is relatively limited, particularly when it comes to long-haul and international routes.
As a result, many MotoGP fans choose to fly into larger airports such as Vienna International Airport (VIE) or Munich Airport (MUC), which offer a far wider selection of global connections. From any of these locations, the circuit is easily accessible by train or rental car.
Graz → Red Bull Ring: ~1 hour
Vienna → Red Bull Ring: ~2–2.5 hours
Munich → Red Bull Ring: ~3.5–4 hours
All three airports are well connected, making onward travel to the circuit straightforward.
🚌 Getting to the Red Bull Ring by bus
Local bus services operate throughout the Spielberg region, connecting nearby towns such as Knittelfeld and Judenburg with the Red Bull Ring.
During the Austrian MotoGP weekend, dedicated shuttle services typically run from Friday to Sunday, providing direct and convenient access to the circuit from key transport hubs. Regular shuttle buses operate from Knittelfeld train station straight to the main entrance of the Red Bull Ring, running every 20 minutes between 08:00 and 20:00, and every 30 minutes into the evening (until 23:00, or 19:00 on Sunday).
A similar service runs from Judenburg bus station (Postgasse), with buses departing every 30 minutes during the day and hourly in the evening.
In addition, the Nightline Murtal shuttle offers late-night transport on Friday and Saturday, allowing fans to travel safely between the circuit area and local nightlife, with services running into the early hours.

🚆 Getting to the Red Bull Ring by train
The nearest railway station to the Red Bull Ring is Knittelfeld, located around 7 km from the circuit.
Knittelfeld is served by regular regional and intercity trains, with direct connections to major cities such as Graz, Vienna and Salzburg.
Tickets can be purchased via the ÖBB (Austrian Federal Railways) website or mobile app, as well as from ticket machines at stations.
From Knittelfeld station:
- Frequent shuttle buses operate during MotoGP weekend, running directly to the main entrance of the circuit
- Driving takes around 10-15 minutes
- Cycling is also a popular option, with dedicated routes in the area
🚗 Getting to the Red Bull Ring by car
Driving is one of the most popular ways to reach the Red Bull Ring, thanks to its well-connected road network.
The circuit is accessible via several motorways, with the final approach typically via the S36, which leads directly towards Spielberg. When driving in Austria, remember that a vignette (toll sticker) is required for motorway use and can be purchased at petrol stations or online.
Key routes include:
- From Vienna: Take the A2 motorway, then join the S6 towards Leoben. At Knoten St. Michael, switch to the S36 heading to the Red Bull Ring. (~2-2.5 hours)
- From Graz: Follow the A9 motorway north (via the Gleinalmtunnel), then take the S36 from Knoten St. Michael towards Spielberg. (~1 hour)
- From Salzburg: Take the A10, exit at St. Michael/Lungau, then follow connecting roads to the S36 towards the circuit. (~2.5-3 hours)
⚠️ Traffic can become very heavy during MotoGP weekend, particularly on race day, so allow extra time for your journey.
🅿️ Parking at the Red Bull Ring
Parking at the Red Bull Ring is well organised, with a mix of free public car parks and paid private options available around the circuit.
Free parking is widely available for race visitors, but spaces cannot be reserved in advance. Arrival time plays a big role – the earlier you get there, the closer you’re likely to park. Traffic management is handled on-site, so you may be directed to different parking zones depending on conditions. Checking the official parking map in advance is recommended to find the best option for your ticket and approach route.

🚗 Paid parking option

Camping is a huge part of the Austrian MotoGP experience and one of the best ways to soak up the atmosphere around the Red Bull Ring.
The areas surrounding the circuit transform into a lively fan zone over the weekend, with thousands of supporters creating a vibrant, festival-like setting.
Many campsites are within walking distance (roughly 10-30 minutes) of the track, with some positioned on hillsides overlooking the circuit, offering great views and a unique atmosphere. Options range from basic pitches to fully equipped sites with showers, food vendors and entertainment
