{"id":2086,"date":"2021-09-30T10:27:56","date_gmt":"2021-09-30T09:27:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/motorsporttickets.com\/blog\/?p=2086"},"modified":"2023-05-26T12:06:05","modified_gmt":"2023-05-26T11:06:05","slug":"qatar-grand-prix-formula-1-to-race-at-losail-international-circuit-in-november","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/motorsporttickets.com\/blog\/qatar-grand-prix-formula-1-to-race-at-losail-international-circuit-in-november\/","title":{"rendered":"Qatar Grand Prix: Formula 1 to race at Losail International Circuit in November"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/motorsporttickets.com\/en\/f1\/\">Formula 1<\/a> has announced that it will race at the Losail International Circuit in November at the first-ever <a href=\"https:\/\/motorsporttickets.com\/en\/f1\/qatar\/direct\">Qatar Grand Prix<\/a>, taking place from 19<sup>th<\/sup> to 21<sup>st<\/sup> November.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The race will replace the Australian Grand Prix, which was cancelled in the summer due to the ongoing pandemic. It will fill the \u2018TBC\u2019 slot on the calendar, and complete a triple-header after races in Mexico and Brazil.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It has also been announced that Qatar will join the calendar on a ten-year deal from 2023, making it a permanent fixture for the next generation of Formula 1. However, the location of the race is yet to be confirmed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While Formula 1 has never raced at the Losail track, it is a popular MotoGP venue, and it usually hosts testing and the opening rounds of the championship. It has also hosted World Touring Car Championship and Endurance World Championship races, and is equipped with lighting to host night races.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 5.4km circuit features 16 corners, including several long-radius turns that will prove testing on the drivers\u2019 physical limits. The track width is relatively slim at Losail, which could make overtaking a challenge for all drivers, but there are plenty of opportunities for brave moves to be made.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Pivotal race in the championship<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2021, the race will be the 20<sup>th<\/sup> race of the 22 race season. With the championship finely poised between Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen by just a couple of points, this unknown track could prove all-important in the title race.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2017, 2018 and 2019, Lewis Hamilton has clinched the title at the third-last race of the year.
