Racing at Imola has returned to the Formula 1 calendar. After filling in on the pandemic-affected 2020 season, the Autodromo di Enzo e Dino Ferrari made a welcome reappearance in the 2021 and 2022 racing calendars, but was sadly cancelled in 2023 due to dangerous weather conditions. The good news is, this quintessential racing circuit in the heart of the beautiful Emilia Romagna region is ready to return in 2024!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Built around a vast city park with public roads both lining the outside of the track and crossing over onto the inside of the track, it\u2019s a special circuit that has delivered years of memorable moments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

An old-school circuit with only a handful of grandstands, here\u2019s everything you need to know about getting a good view of the track at Imola ahead of the Emilia Romagna Formula 1 Grand Prix<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Imola Circuit Grandstand Guide for Formula 1<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

We’ve put together a map of the different grandstand at the Autodromo di Enzo e Dino Ferrari at Imola. This way you can pick out the places you want to sit and compare them with the pricing, and below you will find more detail on each grandstand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Partenza 2, 3 and 4<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Grandstands Partenza 2, 3 and 4 line the main straight at the circuit. Partenza<\/em> means “start” in Italian, so you can imagine where these once are located on the circuit. These large grandstands overlook the starting grid and pit lane, making them a prime position to watch the race. You\u2019ll be able to soak up the atmosphere on the grid as the drivers prepare before the race, and catch the podium ceremony above the pits after the chequered flag. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

From the final turn to the first, the cars reach high top speeds along this straight, where they will also pick up DRS, so you will be able to see plenty of overtakes from your seat. Behind the grandstand, there is a permanent bar and diner, perfect for fuelling you through the race!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tosa 1<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Grandstand Tosa 1 at Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

After the opening two chicanes, the two Tosa 1 grandstands are located at turn 7. This acute corner is one of the tightest on the circuit, and could be an overtaking opportunity for a brave driver. You\u2019ll see the cars barrel down from the second chicane towards the braking zone at 7, before powering towards the second sector and turns 8 and 9. In 2021, this is the spot where Lewis Hamilton lost control of his Mercedes while lapping cars \u2013 a nearly catastrophic error for his race.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Acque Minerali 1, 2 and 3<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Action zones:<\/strong> Turns 11, 12 and 13 (Acque Minerali)
Seat type: <\/strong>Grandstand seating (no back)
Covered<\/strong>: No
Numbered seating:<\/strong> Yes<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Grandstands Acque Minerali 1, 2 and 3 are on the inside of the circuit at Acque Minerali. This undulating section of the track sees the cars tackle oversteer through turns 12 and 13 while building speed uphill towards the fast third and final sector of the lap. On the inside of the track, these grandstands are very close to the public roads and park at the track. This is quite unique for a Formula 1 track, but has a similar feeling to the national park at Monza.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rivazza 2<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The Rivazza grandstands are located overlooking the penultimate corner of the Imola circuit. On the outside of the first Rivazza corner, you will see the cars bomb downhill towards this braking zone – but that doesn\u2019t mean there\u2019ll be a lack of speed. Track limits are often imposed at the exit of the first turn, as drivers push to pick up every hundredth of a second at this section of the lap.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

R<\/strong>ivazza 1 & Prato Rivazza<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Rivazza 1 and Prato Rivazza are some of the most unique places to watch a Formula 1 race from, and is hardly a grandstand at all. Forty rows of seating have been installed within a huge grass verge. There are two grandstands at the exit of the second turn at Rivazza on the inside of the track. From R1, you will see cars exit the second Rivazza and pick up the pace towards the start-finish line. From R2, you\u2019ll catch cars peeling off into the pitlane, or power towards the line.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Where to find the best general admission views at the Imola Grand Prix<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

There are a number of hotspots in the general admission area of the Imola circuit. We recommend getting there early and walking around to find you own favourite spots and then pitching camp if you find the place you want to watch the race from.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One place that we would recommend would be at Acque Minerali at the start of turns 12 and 13 to take in some of the best action. Another is between turns 2, 3 and 4, a prime overtaking spot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
