{"id":6705,"date":"2022-09-28T15:09:26","date_gmt":"2022-09-28T14:09:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/motorsporttickets.com\/blog\/?p=6705"},"modified":"2023-07-04T15:30:33","modified_gmt":"2023-07-04T14:30:33","slug":"this-is-how-max-verstappen-will-become-f1-champion-in-singapore","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/motorsporttickets.com\/blog\/this-is-how-max-verstappen-will-become-f1-champion-in-singapore\/","title":{"rendered":"This is how Max Verstappen will become F1 champion in Singapore"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>As we come to round 17 of the 2022 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorsporttickets.com\/en\/f1\">Formula 1<\/a> season, there\u2019s every chance the sport could leave Singapore having crowned Verstappen as champion once again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Well, not every chance, but as we cross the three-quarter mark of the calendar, it looks all but assured that Max Verstappen will clinch a consecutive title soon enough.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He\u2019s won 11 races from 16 so far and has a 116-point advantage over his nearest title rival Charles Leclerc, with a maximum 164 points available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That technically keeps Verstappen\u2019s Red Bull teammate Sergio Perez still in the race, as he trails the Dutchman by 125 points. Mathematically, George Russell could still win the championship as he trails by 132 \u2013 but that would require near-miracles to come to fruition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So how difficult would it be for Max to clinch the title this weekend, and what are the odds of him doing so?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Formula 1 title permutations in Singapore<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>There is only one thing Max has to do to be in with a chance of championship glory in Singapore: win.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Should Max finish 2<sup>nd<\/sup> and take the fastest lap, he would have a 134-point lead over Leclerc, but there would still be 138 points on the table. According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.oddschecker.com\/motorsport\/formula-1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Oddschecker<\/a> at the time of writing, Verstappen is 13\/19 to take victory in Singapore.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, with all permutations considered, Sky Bet places the odds of Verstappen clinching the title this weekend at 10\/1. That\u2019s the same likelihood it\u2019s placed on Lewis Hamilton winning the race itself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>History looks to be on Verstappen\u2019s side. In the 12 races held in Singapore, the winner of the race was also the winner of the previous race at Monza on seven occasions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But a dramatic race is guaranteed. The safety car has been deployed 21 times, and in every single running of the race at Marina Bay.
