International Travel

The nearest international airport is Nice Cote d'Azur in France, which lies 15km from the city of Monte Carlo.

A direct bus shuttle service (bus 110) is available from Nice Airport to Monaco for approximately €33, which can be pre-booked.

Things to do

Car collection of HSH the Prince of Monaco - A must-see for any car enthusiast, Prince Rainier III’s impressive car collection consists of nearly one hundred classic cars. Most notably, the collection includes the Bugatti Type 35 that won the very first Monaco F1 Grand Prix back in 1929 driven by William Grover-Williams.

Oceanographic Museum of Monaco - This aquarium and museum of marine sciences is a must visit while you are in Monaco. Founded in 1910 by Prince Albert I of Monaco, the aquarium is considered one of the best in Europe and features a spectacular shark tank, a panoramic observation deck, and a tortoise garden.

Casino de Monte-Carlo - Often associated with fictional spy, James Bond, the Casino de Monte-Carlo is a popular gambling and entertainment complex in Monaco. As well as the casino itself, the complex is home to the Grand Théâtre de Monte Carlo.

Palais Princier de Monaco (Prince’s Palace of Monaco) - Although closed to the public over the race weekend, if you are staying in Monaco before or after the race, it’s worth visiting the Prince of Monaco’s lavish 13th century residence.

Jardin Exotique de Monaco - Located high up on a cliffside, the botanical “exotic garden of Monaco” houses a unique collection of succulent plants in beautiful open-air surroundings. Entry also includes access to a cave within the gardens, as well as the Museum of Prehistoric Anthropology.


Weather in Monaco tends to be relatively cool yet sunny in May, with the average temperature a comfortable 17 degrees centigrade. Chances of rainfall are relatively low but it is worth bringing a light jacket in case of showers, and for those chillier evenings.

The date of this race is based on the provisional calendar. Usually these dates do not change but this cannot be guaranteed until the final calendar is released towards the end of the year. If the date of the race does change, it will not affect the validity of any tickets you purchase for the event.
