Background

Located in the heart of France, Le Mans is a beautiful medieval city with lots to offer, motor sport fan or not! Crossed by the river Sarthe, this city is steeped in motor sport tradition and with the stunning old town, its own culinary specialties – the rillettes – and remnants of Roman baths and wall, Le Mans offers entertainment, culture and gastronomy for all tastes.

International Travel

International visitors may find they need to fly to Paris, located approximately 200km away, for connections to Le Mans. Charles de Gaulle Airport is the main airport but alternatives such as Orly and Beauvais-Tillé Airport are served primarily by budget airlines.

An hour drive from the circuit, Aeroport Tours Val de Loire is a small airport with flights to and from London, Marseille and Porto. Availability is limited but as the airport is served by low-cost airlines, it may be possible grab a bargain, even at the last minute! The airport just outside the city of Tours approximately 100 km from Le Mans.

The High Speed TGV stops in Le Mans, and many TGV West-bound trains leaving from Paris stop in Le Mans. You can combine this journey with Eurostar or other international train services to get to Le Mans from countless European cities.

Things to do

Motorsports enthusiasts will not want to miss out on a visit to the “Musee des 24 heures du Mans”, a museum dedicated to the 24 hour long race hosted in the city every year.

For some peace and quiet before or after the on-track action, the town will enchant with it's stunning architecture, botanical gardens and traditional cafes. There are museums to be found in Musee de la Tesse and e la Reine Berengere, for those who need a cultural fix!

Weather

MotoGP visits Le Mans in May, when there are pleasant Spring temperatures. Although rain has affected races in previous years, so always be prepared!
