Originally two separate towns of Hohenstein and Ernstthal, in 1898 these areas united to form Hohenstein-Ernstthal. Located 15 kilometres west of Chemnitz in Saxony, the town established itself in the 15th Century, largely due to the silver mines that were created nearby.
The closest city to the area is Chemnitz which is the third-largest city in Saxony and is perfectly placed in the foothills of the Ore Mountains.
Hohenstein-Ernstthal is only one hour away from Dresden, also known as the "Florence at the Elbe", where you will find stunning building such as the Frauenkirche, the Zwinger Palace and Brühl's Terrace, among others.
If you have the chance to plan another trip, it will take you just a little bit more than an hour to get to Leipzig, city famous for its Market Square, its Monument to the Battle of the Nations, its beautiful churches and much more.
The Sachsenring circuit is located in Hohenstein-Ernstthal next to the small town of Oberlungwitz, 20km West of Chemnitz in Saxony.
The closest airports to the circuit are Dresden Airport (100km), Leipzig/Halle Airport (140km), Erfurt Airport (150km).
