Who will go fastest Down Under in 2023?

Traditionally the opening race of the Formula 1 season, there is a sense of tradition around the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne. The eyes of the world focus on Albert Park at the beginning of every season as fans, pundits and teams eagerly await the fruits of their labours and finally discover how fast they really are out on track.

The race returned in 2022, to the jubilation of Australian motorsport fans who filled the many grandstands at the Albert Park circuit. Not only was it the first chance for these fans to see F1 racing in three years, but they got an early glimpse of the new generation of cars. Coupled with the newly profiled circuit, with multiple changes designed to make overtaking easier, produced an excellent race. Charles Leclerc took pole position, and in a race that saw his rival Max Verstappen and teammate Carlos Sainz retire, the Monegasque stormed to victory.

For home fans, while they might not be able to cheer on their local hero Daniel Ricciardo, they will be getting behind rookie Oscar Piastri, who has replaced the Honey Badger at McLaren. But it won’t just be Formula 1 in action, as some of Australia’s most exciting race series take to the track from Thursday all the way up to race day Sunday. VHT Australian S5000 Championship, Supercars, Porsche Carrera Cup Australia and a number of Historics will be in action, as will the RAAF with an incredible air display over the track. If you’re a real racing fan, Albert Park is the place to be this November for the Australian Grand Prix.
