great event but move the start grid

Hi, we had a great weekend , a little bit spoiled by the Hulk's very poor driving... took out 5 cards... i suggest the start line is moved so the cars are not going so fast... Apart from that it was a great event, more toilets would be good,,, thanks

An awesome weekend. Best bunch of guys to go with, best campsite we have stayed in at Spa and the funniest laugh we have had before. Already planning next years trip!

Great experience at a wonderful location.

Pit walk was greatly overcrowded due to it being offered free to everyone, we didn't reach the pit lane after 2 hours of queuing so we gave up. Race days were very good, but leaving car parks on Sunday a disorganized nightmare

Very disappointing

The race itself was exciting. However, the experience at the Spa race course was terrible! The journey into the venue was extremely long and through small villages and country lanes. We ended up walking the last few kilometres because we were simply stuck in a traffic jam trying to get into the car park. Once inside the venue, we were shocked to discover that a large amount of food was unavailable as they had run out! However, the most distressing part was that just before the start of the race a number of the public toilets were closed because they had run out of water and therefore they could not be operated. As a woman I found this particularly distressing and was unable to have anything further to drink throughout the event, on what was a particularly warm day. It was also disgusting to see many men simply urinating at the side of the seating areas. In the heat the stench became quite disgusting. The journey home was particularly disappointing as it took the bus over 2 hours to get out of the car park. There were no stewards to help with the evacuation of vehicles and as a result it quickly descended into chaos as cars and buses fought to get out! The 2 hour journey back to Brussels actually took 5 and a half hours! This was a surprise birthday present for my husband's 40th birthday, as he is a huge formula 1 fan. However, the experience was very much overshadowed by a frustrating journey to and particularly from the venue and especially the lack of toilet facilities! We have attended Grand Prix's at Silverstone and at Albert Park in Melbourne and have extremely enjoyable experiences at both. It is a shame I cannot say the same for our experience at the Belgian Grand Prix. We will certainly not be returning to Spa and would not recommend anyone fellow F1 fans to attend either.

Outstanding

The lack of restrooms around the seating area. To many people urinating in plain view.

Record Crowds, Spa '17

Spa is a beautiful place to watch a Grand Prix. The weather was great on Saturday and Sunday and the Orange Hordes helped create an amazing atmosphere. My message to the organisers of this event is, are you able to cope with a quarter of a million people in that area? I feel you may be losing out on both revenue and customer satisfaction. We arrived for the race on Sunday and made our way to our grandstand. The crowds around us were so dense we had our one drink and stayed put. The seats in the stands offer a guaranteed view but no less comfort than for those in deckchairs. The grandstand seats are like when you go to a school sports day and have to sit on a chair designed for a seven year olds bottom. Anyway, top tip, just unclip the seat and sit on the underlying plank. Much more comfortable. At the end of the gig, leaving took ages. Most of us evacuating the centre of the circuit ( and thankfully it wasn't an emergency ) mostly had to squeeze through the tiny tunnel at Eau Rouge. Their were folks breaking through fences or climbing them all around us. Spa, you need to create more gates onto the track, and insist a good many of the spectators exit this way. However, upon reaching the main gate you may not be out of the woods (sic). At the end of the days racing, can you relax in the Fanzone, enjoy a beer , and on the Saturday watch/ listen to the cars in the last race of the day? No, because it is too busy and there is now a DJ making A LOT of noise throughout the day. Not a nice noise like a racing car engine, just a noise. A great many people took their drinks and went back to their buses to talk about formula one. No biggy Spa, but please refocus on the experience of each and everyone.

Fabulous race circuit but only adequate for spectators

This a special race track in a beautiful setting. The walkways, tunnels, organisation all need bringing into the 21st century. Getting around the circuit very difficult and on race day the inadequate walkways are just blocked. All chaotic. We travelled by shuttle from Verviers rail station. Road access and egress from circuit on race day was appalling. Need to camp or helicopter in and out.

Worst trip ever

Worst event I have been the race was good but everything else poor Coach pick us up 11/2 hours late Then took the longest rout to the track eventually gave up and dropped us 2 mile from the track in 27deg with not as much as an apology becaus of this we missed all the pre F1 racing booking F1 arranged the transport so beware Also took 4/12 hours to get back no a trip that should have taken only 2 longest way back

Access and facilities were very bad.

We definitely would not go back to Spa. The infrastructure is not there. It reminds me of Silverstone befor the new road. 2 hours to get in and 3 to get out. The crowds sitting on the paths made it impossible to move around and the are not enough toilets and the queues for everything are much too long.

Shame about the seat, great atmosphere

Arriving Thursday lunchtime without a camping/parking ticket, I drove up to the circuit gate at Les Combes. On my right was a camp/park entrance. Ushered to my plot which was only a 350 metre walk to circuit entrance, 135 euros & 15 metres from the original Spa circuit (result!). The camp was noisy as to be expected but with great atmosphere with about 45% Brits. I didn't see any toilet facilities so I assume there weren't any. Food available was the usual hot dogs, hamburgers, chips, pop cans & a bar outside entrance. Inside in the "Silver" area was one vendor with pop & beer cans. Toilet facilities behind the stand temporary. Outside "Silver" area were some permanent toilets with a charge. The commentary was in Belgium, English & German but with a single speaker at one end. It only appeared to transmit about 20% of the time, but if a car came past it wasn't relevant anyway. My seat was behind a RSJ upright for the catch fencing obscuring most of the right hand side of the TV screen. I was in block C row 4 seat 3. If you are unfortunate enough to get seat 3 or 4 with a low row number: hard luck. There will be seats in block A & B with the similar problem presumably. The privilege of the seat gives you access to 200 metres of trackside viewing without wrestling for a hole in the chainlink fencing for your camera lens. I spent most of the Saturday & Sunday in this area. Any photographs taken from most of the seats had at least one chainlink mesh in the view, low row seats two. Presumably this is why "Silver 3" are the last seats to sell. Summary: Great weekend, great atmosphere, stand seat s**t

BookF1 do a great job, but Spa is let down a bit by the local infrastructure.

Firstly BookF1 do a great job, sadly let down a bit by the local infrastructure. Coombes was a good place to view the cars, but the car parks are sloped fields - even worse than Silverstone, which are at least flat. Its a bit of a walk down to the Francorchamps end of the circuit, but Spa never has much to offer in the Village compared to other GPs which stage decent evening concerts etc. Traffic is chaotic getting out - ACCESS FROM CIRCUIT RATING = 0. It took 2.5 hours to get to the nearest fuel, so make sure you are not near empty when you park. Also if you are in a car with low ground clearance be aware the car parks have very poor access over kerbs - I ripped a bolt out of my cars oil tank which very nearly ended my trip at that point were it not for the sterling efforts of a local garage. Cost to fix when I am home iro £1500 :-(

Les Combes viewing.

A map of the circuit gives you the impression you could have a view of the braking zone at the end of Kemmel Straight as well as a view of the drive to Stavelot, but the way the stand is positioned, prevents both. The stand is very shallow and low so all seats have to watch through the catch fences, which means good keepsake photographs impossible. In my opinion, general access and a decent position at Pouillion is the way to go. Why there is no Grandstand at this natural amphitheater, is a mystery to me.

Spa 2011 - Could it be the best race of the season?

Race was great. Spa circuit is in a fantastic setting. View from Combes was pretty good, but some of the bronze areas probably offered more action. We soaked up the atmosphere and got soaked in the rain as expected. Yellow camping was great for access to the limited facilities in Francorchamps town which only had 2 small shops and 3 restaurants. The site facilities were very basic (as expected) but Monday morning was interesting as the toilets were not emptied on the Sunday!! All negatives outweighed by the positive experience of watching a great GP live.

Excellent F1 experience

Been to the Belgian GP twice before but this time booked Grandstand tickets (Silver 3 Combes). Definitely worth it, we strolled up just before the race and sat down (you also have your own "grandstand toilets"). Weather was pants as normal but the experience was great. What ever you do - take waterproofs and enjoy!!
