Welcome to the largest city in the Americas! São Paulo offers to all its visitors a mix of traditions and innovation. While Brazil has been always famous for its street markets where you can try its local products, São Paulo is also home to several of the tallest skyscraper buildings in the country.
We would recommend you to take time to visit the Ibirapuera Park, one of the largest parks in Latin America where you will be able to admire the work from the one of the founders of the modern architecture: Oscar Niemeyer.
In order to live the full experience of being in São Paulo, a stop at a typical Brazilian bar cannot be missed. But you need to be careful, or you will find yourself haunted by the sound of Samba!
The city centre is about 28km from the airport and can be easily reached by road.
Several airlines fly directly from London Heathrow to Sao Paulo. The nearest international airport is São Paulo-Guarulhos, 30 miles to the north east. It is approximately 45 minutes from the track. The closest airport is Congonhas Airport, however this offers more domestic connections and private flights.
Sao Paulo is one of these lesser-known gems, not famous for being the most tourist-friendly city, it holds its share of beautiful sceneries. Here are a few things which are worth visiting during your trip:
The Ayrton Senna’s final resting place is a must-see for any Formula 1 fan, located just 100 meters from the entrance of the Morumbi cemetery in the south of the city, you will be able to pay your respect to one of the most popular Brazilian driver.
Celebrate the Grand Prix by having a try at one of the most popular and beautiful dance Brazil has to offer: Samba. Visit the Pinheiros area of the city and enjoy the local dance.
Go on a shopping spree while filling up on souvenirs in this very crowded street, avoid visiting the street at night!
Enjoy the local delicacies while wandering throughout this food market. Fruit, vegetables, seafood, sweets, sandwiches, pastries, there is enough to please every palate!
Ibirapuera Park is a large urban park which is the perfect place to have a walk a run or to even enjoy museums since it welcomes the Museum of Modern Art and the Afro-Brazil Museum.
The circuit is located at the highest point of the Interlagos neighbourhood, located between two dams - Billings and Guarapiranga. Due to this, the weather in Interlagos can change quite drastically throughout the day. We would recommend being prepared for all possible weather conditions by bringing sun protection, as well as clothing to suit both warm and cold temperatures. For possible wet weather, the circuit may refuse entry with an umbrella so we would advise taking a raincoat instead.
