Informations clés, trajets internationaux, et visites à ne pas manquer

With its bustling atmosphere, iconic skyline and endless attractions Shanghai is a metropolis of the Far East. Despite being a very modern city, it still retains some of its traditional charm with various markets and rich architectural heritage. Due to the economic and and trade potential of the city, power changed several times, with Britain, America and Japan all presenting an interest in the city. In 1949 the People's Liberation Army took control of Shanghai after years of Japanese control, to become the city we know today.

Located in the estuary of Yangtze River Delta, Shanghai became more important in the 19th century due to booming trade through its famous port. The city is still known today for being the cultural centre of East China as it is influential in economy, international trade and is a global finance centre.
