We had an amazing weekend

We had an amazing weekend. We were camping in our motorhome with F1 Camping. Had we have been travelling in daily I know we would have had a completely different experience. We spoke to a great many people who just spent hours in the car parks and in ques. So I dont think we would be going to France again unless with the motorhome.

Logistics joke

Took 1.5hrs to drive the last 1.5kms to the F1 campsite. That was a 45 minute walk on busy, dangerous roads with inadequate or non-existant paving, Gendamerie making things worse zipping around. The circuit entrance road is abysmal. ZERO paving, so you have to walk across rocky ground and through flowerbeds, all while VIP vehicles, minibuses, coaches etc roar past at breackneck speeds, none stopping for the thousands of people trying to cross the road. Inside the circuit was no better, with three pedestrian bridges, two operating a one-way system (apart from F1 personnel who apparently do what they want) and one with a farcical two-way system being 'operated' by a security guard way out of his depth with no control. This resulted in huge queues bigger than Disneyland, and arguments between race fans and the guard, or amongst themselves as everyone was getting in everyone else's way and nothing was moving. It took 30 minutes to cross! Concession stands were also a joke. Average of 30 minutes queuing at every stand, regardless of time of day. Not enough staff and a poor system of one taking your order, another taking the money, etc We will not be going back.

Good race, shame about the facilities

GOOD Track but could do without the chicane Campsite village especially the shop Toilet provision and cleanliness BAD Campsite and parking organisation Pathways from campsite and car parks dangerous. Distance from campsite to track grossly understated Road access inadequate Poor signage approaching and at the trrack Insufficient multilingual staff Campsite dangerous with closely spaced units, tinder-dry ground and no visible fire warning and fighting facilities Insufficient provision of potable water at campsite. Food and drink provision inside the track inadequate Police sirens blaring 12 hours a day on road adjacent to the campsite No visible security at campsite .

Worst F1 campsite I've been to

I understand this was the first race at Paul Ricard for a long while, however the prep for the paths to the entrances and the car parks looked like a bulldozer had just been pushed through. There was barbed wire, rocks loose branches everywhere. I felt sorry for anyone with children or a mobility issue. The roads around the site were gridlocked for most of the weekend also. The security team on the camp site had obviously never been to another Formula 1 event; jumping on any form of fun or noise like a tramp on chips. Couple this with the lack of entertainment and draconian noise cut off of midnight meant this was the most boring race I've been to. Once you were in the confines of the race circuit things improved - there was just about enough space for people to view the race (general admission ticket). Liberty media have a lot to answer for with regards to the removal of any form of timing screens, instead forcing you to use the offical F1 app (which wouldn't have worked anyway due to lack of mobile data (overcrowding)). The on site fans are the people who have made the effort and paid the money to watch live motorsport, we should have at least the same information available as those sat at home.

Beautiful venue poorly organised

I can only imagine they expected around a hundred people to turn up. If you enjoy queuing this would be the trip of lifetime, queue to get in 5hrs, queue for toilets or showers (both equally over flowing with excrement) 1hr. Want to pay for food or drink 2hr queue, shops 1 fan shop big queue sold out of brollys anyway, decide to prepare own food and drinks as the facility’s are terrible, shop has sold out of bread. I’m a incredibly positive person normally but the planing for this was terrible. You could double the number of bars and food outlets and toilets and still be short. Staff are lovely btw and coped under the pressure.
