Bull Creek District Park is a 48-acre park that offers several different sports courts, a fishing pier and an off-leash dog area, as well as a popular swimming hole.
In the evening, a short, sharp hike up to Mount Bonnell offers some of the best views over Austin and is the perfect location for a sunset picnic.
If you are looking for some artistic inspiration, you can also visit the Hope Outdoor Gallery, a community paint park that is free to visit during daylight hours.
Those looking for more indoor culture can visit the Hyde Park district of Austin, full of historic Victorian homes and 1920s bungalows. The Elisabet Ney Museum and the Bullock Texas State History Museum are both located in this cultural center.
If you plan your time well, you can also take a guided tour of the Texas Governors Mansion. This needs to be booked at least one week in advance, as no walk-up tours are available.

Weather in Austin is pleasant in October/November, with temperatures between 22 and 28 degrees centigrade on average. Rain is not unheard of, and the past few races have seen some very heavy rainfall for at least part of the weekend. Therefore, we would recommend bringing waterproof clothing as well as layers to protect you from any downpours.
