Spa Grand Prix

BookF1 were fantastic to deal with and dealt with my queries very quickly. I'll be using BookF1 to book my future F1 race visits.

Awesome but not for the infirm

Fantastic experience at Spa, what a track. We had no idea that it’s elevations were so extreme and produced some superb racing. The biggest issue for us, a party of three was how hard it was to get round the track as a spectator. My father who was travelling with us found it a real difficulty taking the very long a winding entrance/ exit as he can’t walk very far without shortness of breath. Having only one way round the track if you enter at la Source is a huge mistake. Any attempt to upgrade his or our tickets was not met with any help even after we explained the situation. As a result we spent a lot of the time in the Fanzone with what has to be said the most poorly placed stage I’ve ever seen, it restricted the view of Eau Rouge if you sat in the grandstand. I’d say the same of a large portion of the vendor stands with signage that blocks the view of the track, the sole reason we are there. Sort this out and a considerably better variety of food and it’s all a step in the right direction. Despite all this we had a great weekend so thank you Spa.

Great track, average facilities

Spa is one of the best F1 circuits, partly due to it’s setting in the hills, surrounded by forest. It’s a long, undulating circuit, which makes for good racing. It’s an old, historic venue though so there’s less space around it to find your way round but it’s not so busy you can’t get where you want to go. There are a lot of general admission viewing points but they get very busy, very early. If you’re not willing to find a spot 6 hours (or more) before the race (like me), you might find yourself wandering round hoping to find somewhere you can see enough of the track. Expect expensive food or bring your own - especially if you want anything not fried. Our campsite was an overspill field - only 2 portaloos, no water taps etc, but if you bring your own provisions you’ll be sorted for a really good weekend!

Had better race weekends

The organisation at the track leaves a lot to be desired. We were sat on the Kemmel straight for the Saturday and Sunday, what a nightmare!!! It took 15-20 minutes to navigate the crowds to get to the top of the bank and then find a gap in the chairs to just go to the loo!! Spa have kindly put signs on the walkways to stop people sitting at the top of the bank, but no stewards to enforce the rule!!! In fact, I didn’t see anyone all race weekend. They really need to look at putting some kind of seating along the Kemmel straight. We were trackside at 7.30 am and bagged a space, only to be overrun by latecomers who think it’s acceptable to move your things when you’re not looking to ensure they get a better seat. We go to Silverstone each year, and the experience is immeasurably better. Maybe they need to offer tips on how to look after fans? Spa has also introduced a token scheme for trackside food/drink outlets. Great idea, apart from an average tasting burger being worth €14 !!!! And cans of coke being €3,50 - not what I call fair pricing, even for a captive audience!!! Other than the above, it’s a beautiful track and set in lovely surroundings, which means I’ll probably go through it all again in a couple of years time!!!!

F1 weekend in motorhome bronze area

Getting the tickets was easy, e-ticket which you need to print. We chose to camping in the motorhome, arrived midday on the Saturday so no traffic then went and watched the qualifying. Take small chairs, ours were a bit big. You will find a spot to sit and view the track but be patient it’s busy! The seating banks for bronze are steep and rocky as well so don’t expect to be flat or comfortable, but they are workable. We camped in the green area which states on the website may be noisy...embrace it and join in with the very friendly Dutch ravers! You will not get peace and quite till the early hours. Sunday is very busy as you would expect, get in early to secure your spot. They unfortunately closed some of the toilets, and others overflowed, very poor organisation. Men and women were wild weeding in the woods to avoid a 30 min queue. If you want a smooth onward journey, stop there and have dinner etc before leaving. We left at 2100 and was all clear but saw huge tailbacks up will about 2000.

Too Many people, not enough room

If you charged 20% more and had 20% less people there it may be ok but for bronze ticket holders the weekend is a joke, there just isn't enough room for general admission. Food was a ripoff and people pissing everywhere due to a lack of toilets. I was really looking forward to the race but was left deeply disappointed. I traveled halfway around the world for this. Also the cars sound rubbish now compared to the old non-turbo cars

Lots of walking!

I walked all the way from the green camping area to La Source for the pit walk on Thursday only to be told I had to walk up another steep hill along and down another hill, I'm not the fittest person in the world so older people would struggle and some people just turned back, we could see the pits from where we were told to keep walking, I ended up with a massive blister on both ankles which made it impossible to walk to any spots around the circuit other than the end of the straight. I saved for a long time and travelled all the way from Australia for this and really had my weekend ruined on the Thursday, not very fan friendly really. Also the cars sound terrible now, when I last attended a GP in 1998 the sound made my hair stand on end and gave me goose bumps, my road car sounds better than this no word of a lie, ditch the turbos and turn up the revs, listen to the fans not the manufacturers who come and go as it suits them.

Great, Fun, But Disgusting

We stayed in the green camping, (4 lads), which had a fantastic atmosphere, not many rules regarding bbq’s or noise, which is through the night, and great. We sat on the last corner for qualy and the race, which is alot of walking around the track! Dont underestimate how much walking!! The campsite its self like i say, was great, the toilets were just portaloo’s which isnt the best, but not the worst! As on the race day, the tunnel you go trough under the track to get you to the rest of the track, had obviously had a spillage, or an overflow from the cubicles near by, as on one side of the walkway, was toilet paper and human excrement, which was one of the most disgusting things i have ever seen! That was the only bad point i can find about the weekend apart from the burgers being €7 each and the same with the chips, the rest was fantastic!

Amazing experience

First time going to watch the F1, Camped on the Green site and was a great experience all round. Pack received from book F1 had all documents needed and very simple to book with. Already deciding which Grand Prix to go next and would certainly use BookF1 for camping and tickets!

Love, F1 don't like disco's on track.

Visited Spa again for F1 with other races on weekend card. Stayed in Green camp site close to Kemmel Straight. New access gates were good at Malmedy. We decided to position ourselves at Pouhon for race day which was a sad mistake. 2 wanna be DJs plus disco girls got on stage opposite F1 die hard fans. We and lots around us would like them hung drawn and quartered. We want anything to do with F1. If you want music stay in the campsite were boom boom bass music can be heard until 3am every night. Race was a total procession after the restart, what is the problem!

Fun and exciting weekend

My husband and I camped in one of the camp sites which was very convenient for attending the Grand Prix. I was impressed with the facilities around the track (not the campsite!!!) and thought that they were kept in very good conditions considering the amount of people attending the event. The races were great and we managed to have a good view on Sunday however, the speaker that worked for the commentaries for the F2 and GP3 races stopped working and we didn't get the commentaries for the main F1 race. This was the only downside of our day which remained an excellent day.

Great race track, great race , shocking campsite

So 10 of us head to spa, we weren’t expecting a top class campsite as all information warns it’s a temporary site but what we arrived to was terrible. The green campsite is a farmers field with one water bowser six pota Lois and the most horrendous temporary showers, with possibly 2000 people. Camping in this area you can imagine what these 6 loo s were like! By the end of the weekend the perimeter of the field were full of use toilet roll and human waste. Night times are lively which we expected and location is great a 5 minuet walk to track. I would look elsewhere if you want any form of basic facilities as this was shocking

First European F1 Experience

Great location, was not expecting the steepness of the area or the track, you have to see it in person to comprehend the angles involved, TV does not do it justice. The racing was great the crowds were large and mostly Dutch in support of Max. My only suggestion would be to have more big screens around the Bronze areas.

The race organisers went all out to make 2018 spa special

The circuit is truly stunning and the viewing opportunities - whether grandstand or general - are exceptional. We booked speedcorner which was new for 2018 and we’re not disappointed - never have we been so close to an F1 car at full pelt through a tight left hand corner and then be able to watch it all the way down to the Pouhon double left hander - stunning stuff

Far too expensive

Had a great race weekend but the price of anything inside the track was astronomical. €14 for a burger. Nothing special about it, and €7 for chips. Merchandise was even worse. Would rather buy fakes. So much for trying to make it open to ordinary folk who don't earn millions. Love F1 but if I have to put up with being robbed Everytime I want to see my favorite sport I think it'll just watch it on TV. Shame really

Excellent atmosphere!

First of all, the booking experience with Book F1 was really simple and they kept me informed throughout the process, from the initial booking email to when my tickets would be delivered, and also a race preview a couple of days before the weekend commenced. Really impressed. We booked the Bronze General Admission weekend tickets, with camping from Thursday to Monday, and we drove from Yorkshire, via. the channel tunnel at Folkstone. Its a long-ish drive however a cheap and convenient way to do it. On arriving at the Green campsite, the atmosphere was buzzing, and full of Dutch supporting Verstappen. A marshall paced out our pitch size (which i thought was slightly less than 5 x 8m, as he paced it out in yards), but we just managed to squeeze everything on. The bar areas in the campsite on Thursday night was buzzing, with music and everyone drinking - the Dutch certainly know how to camp, bringing DJ booths and make shift hot tubs. Friday practice we decided to walk the track during the day, and try scout out the various spots to sit at on Saturday/Sunday. It was busy, but we got some good vantage points throughout the day (Pouhon/Kemmel Straight/Last Chichane). The F1 fan zone was also lively, with entertainment on before, during and after sessions. Saturday we arrived at the Kemmel Straight at 7.30/8am, and got a spot at the top of the bank so we could put chairs up. Sunday we queued for over 1h just to get into the circuit from 5.45am, and eventually got to Pouhon corner at approx. 7.15am - it was chaos! We didn't get the best spot, but could still see the big screen and had a decent view of them coming down the hill round the corner. The track has decent footpaths surrounding it, so comfortable trainers are suitable, however walking boots needed if it rains (which is did on Friday - a lot!). Arrive at the circuit as early as you wish, but be prepared to stand if you arrive after 8am on race day. Toilets were dotted around, but the male population generally just went in the woods. Inside the circuit was a ticket system for food. 10 tickets for €35, and chips were 2 tickets, and burgers 3-5 tickets depending on what you got, but a little cheaper on the campsites - The food isn't great, and is expensive. Getting out of the circuit after the race is a nightmare though, so be prepared to wait a couple of hours to get out. We actually decided to book a motel on the Sunday night in Liege so we could get up early and head back to the UK - nice to have a decent nights kip on a bed! Overall it was a really good experience, and the setting of the track is incredible - it's a must go-to for an F1 fan. The advantage of the Bronze ticket is you get to see all the track, and admire the views. We also had entry to the F1 paddock and hospitality for a few hours which we got through a work colleague, which was an incredible experience!

racing great, everything else is a rip off.

The track and racing is great. The camping is a rip off as its expensive then you have to pay for a rubbish shower. Pit walk and autograph session what a waste of time. You are fenced of from everything so no chance of good picture. British touring car is cheaper and better layer out. You can see the cars and talk to the drivers. Would I go f1 again? No. Would I recommend? The racing yes, the rest no.
