Following the success of MotoGP visiting Portimao for the first time in 2020, and a brilliant race in 2021, the Algarve circuit steps in to host a second weekend of racing action at the business end of the season.
Similar to the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, this track features long, sweeping corners giving the riders plenty of overtaking options, while including undulating sections of the circuit, similar to the Waterfall corner at Germany's Sachsenring.
Fabio Quartararo won the race in April 2021, to set up a storming charge towards the title. But the second visit to Portimao will be vital on the road to the championship, as it is the penultimate round of the year. With action from Moto2 and Moto2, which both also have championships on the line, it's all to race for throughout a thrilling weekend.
