The Baku Street Circuit combines iconic skyscrapers and an ancient city centre which combines European and Asian styles. The round towers of the Baku Fortress Wall has become one of the most recognisable backdrops of the race.
The fortress was built around 900 years ago and contrasts not only with the wider cityscape of modern Baku, but also with the very latest in motorsport technology, which races in its shadow each year.
Six different drivers have won the seven editions of this tantalising race on the shores of the Caspian Sea. With no less than six rookies joining the grid, McLaren breathing down the necks of Red Bull and Lewis Hamilton at Ferrari, an unpredictable race just became impossible to call.
On top of that, Azerbaijan is at the cheaper end of the spectrum of F1 tickets. Flights and hotels are also reasonably priced. Baku is increasingly well connected, now benefiting from direct flights from London.
