Abu Dhabi Formula 1 Grand Prix 2020

Race profile

The Yas Marina Circuit is situated on Yas Island around 30 minutes from Abu Dhabi. Designed by Hermann Tilke, this is the second Formula 1 track in the Middle East. The circuit hosted its first Grand Prix on the 1st November 2009. It was the first circuit to host a Formula 1 twilight race using floodlights to illuminate the circuit to ensure a seamless transition from day to night.

The circuit is one of the few venues to run in an anti-clockwise direction, and it is also unique as the only track with an underground pit lane. With top speeds of 320km/h, it consists of 20 corners, made up of 9 right turns and 11 left turns which twist through the man-made island, passing along the marina and under the 5-star Yas Marina Hotel.

Recently, the circuit has implement changes in order to make the track present more overtaking opportunities, however the Yas Marina circuit has already been praised as an enjoyable and unique circuit that presents challenges to the expert drivers in the last race of the season.
