Race profile

With stunning panoramic views across the ocean, The Phillip Island Circuit is one of the most attractive circuits of the season. An incredibly fast and fluid circuit, the Australian MotoGP is popular with fans worldwide. The first motorcycle races took place in 1931 and a permanent track was built in 1956. After decades in disrepair, a multi-million dollar refurbishment saw MotoGP come to the circuit in the late 1980s and it has been a regular fixture in the calendar since 1997.

The circuit itself consists of 12 turns; 7 left corners and 5 right corners, with the longest straight measuring 0.9km. The tight corners and dramatic elevation changes have earned the circuit a reputation of being one of the most challenging on the calendar. Situated about 140km south-east from Melbourne, Phillip Island is steeped in Motor racing history and with the stunning views there is something for everyone.

The 2018 race was full of drama as Maverick Vinales broke a 25-race winless streak for Yamaha, while newly crowned champion Marc Marquez crashed out after an incident with Johann Zarco. Be there to find out what 2019 has in store.
