Watch racing come to life in the hills of Styria

For one weekend every year, the Styrian mountains swap out silent serenity for speed and spectacle as the Austrian Formula One Grand Prix rolls into the Red Bull Ring. It’s one of F1’s most popular races, as thousands of fans pack into the short and technical circuit. Nine packed grandstands offer panoramic views across the entire ten-turn track, so meaning fans get more action on race weekend.

It's also a favourite circuit of world champion Max Verstappen, as his dedicated Dutch Oranje Army take over the stands for the weekend. The Dutchman has been on the podium seven times at this circuit, but was forced off the winner’s step in 2022 when Charles Leclerc overtook him three times on the way to victory.

That’s just one example of Austrian action in the mountains. Verstappen and Leclerc went hammer and tong for the win in 2019, while Lewis Hamilton and Alex Albon tangled in a dramatic clash in 2020. And last year’s event also saw an incredible five-car battle for 6th place, with cars heading into corners three-wide as they fought.

It’s a good job that the Red Bull Ring offers incredible panoramic views. It’s one of the only circuits in the world where all three sectors of the racetrack are visible from certain seats. The massive elevation gives fans across the circuit awesome views of the entire race – not just the corner in front of their stand.

And beside the race, thousands of racing fans camping at a racetrack inevitably leads to huge parties. With five campsites within walking distance of the circuit, whether you’re a group looking to celebrate or a family enjoying the racing, you’ll be a part of an electric atmosphere pumping through the track.

The Austria Grand Prix returns for 2023, with a provisional date of 2nd July. Tickets are available now.
