The British MotoGP has been held at the Home of British Motor Racing, Silverstone, since 2010.
Welcoming around 100,000 fans to each Grand Prix, the lap starts on the National Pit Straight, and heads straight into the iconic esses of Maggots, Beckets and Chapel - a majestic sequence of corners on a motorbike.
Silverstone’s sweeping corners push the riders’ tyres to the limit, and conserving tread can play a key part to a winning strategy. Alex Rins found this out in 2019, when he had a marginal amount of extra grip compared to Marc Marquez’s leading bike heading into the final corner. Rins found the traction, and pipped Marquez on the like by 0.014s - the closest finish in MotoGP history! In the Silverstone museum, you’ll find plenty of legendary cars and bikes from its illustrious history in motorsport - but Silverstone is still creating history on track year-after-year.
