MotoGP is set to head to India for the first time in its history as the Buddh International Circuit – former home of the Indian Formula 1 Grand Prix – hosts motorcycle racing’s premier class.
An hour’s drive from the capital city Delhi, the circuit boasts a capacity of over 100,000 spectators to watch the action and bikes fly around these 16 turns on the 5km circuit. The track is characterised by long straights through the first sector, and a series of technical turns through the middle of the lap.
The circuit has been compared to the iconic Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium, with its flowing corner structure leading to great overtaking, and “roller-coaster” elevation.
It will become the 75th MotoGP venue, and the 29th country to host a motorcycle Grand Prix.
Launching in 2023, the first race will take place during the 75th year of India – where 75% of vehicles owned are motorbikes. Fans will descend on New Delhi, where travelling supporters will be able to discover the unique architecture and vibrant culture the city has to offer.
The circuit itself is littered with grandstands, with views of every single corner available from the 16 stands. Fans are spoilt for choice when choosing where to sit at the Indian MotoGP.
