Witness the season getting underway in Portimao

Having hosted four brilliant Grands Prix in Portugal since 2020, Portimao returns to the calendar in 2024, this time as the second round of the new MotoGP season.

The circuit has shot to popularity in recent years, having been a stand-in track during the pandemic, but it has stamped its mark on MotoGP with its epic racing action in prime motorcycle-loving territory.

Portuguese Miguel Oliveira won 2020's first race on the Algarve in style, three seconds ahead of Jack Miller and Franco Morbidelli who battled it out over second. As the final race of the season, it was a chance for Joan Mir to celebrate his incredible World Championship. And in 2021, the Ducati team clinched the constructors’ title. But it will be a different challenge in 2023, as the bikes will touch the tarmac at the Portimao circuit, looking to stamp their authority on the upcoming season When racing returns, we can expect sparks to fly as the teams find their rhythm for the year. Moto2 and Moto3 will also be in action as their seasons hit the ground running.

Fans attending the race will be able to relax on the luxurious southern coast of Portugal. The port city of Portimao has a traditional Portuguese vibe, while it is close to the popular tourist towns of Lagos and Albufeira, giving fans a great opportunity to catch some racing during a holiday.
