Most people would travel to the Italian town of Rimini for a relaxing getaway by the beach. But every summer, the MotoGP season hots up as the Misano circuit hosts the San Marino Grand Prix.
WHY GO TO THE SAN MARINO MOTOGP
This is a part of the world that has a real passion for motorcycle racing, with legend Valentino Rossi and Andrea Dovizioso having grown up nearby.
The quick 4.2km circuit features a number of high-speed kinks alongside numerous slower, considered turns. Riders can expect to hit a blistering top speed of 300 km/h during the lap, and an average speed of 162km/h. It became a fixture on the MotoGP calendar in 2007, and has regularly hosted a maximum capacity of 60,000 fans. Between the MotoGP action, fans enjoy Moto2 and Moto3 races.
Besides the action heating up on track, fans can relax with a dip in the sea as temperatures hit an average high of 25°C in September. Tourists can explore one of the world’s smallest countries, San Marino, which was founded back in 300AD. For the ultimate view, a climb of Monte Titano offers mind-blowing views of the country from a height of 749m above sea level. Well worth the effort for the gelato waiting for you at the summit.
