MotoGP racing at its best at the mighty Misano circuit

Most people would travel to the Italian town of Rimini for a relaxing getaway by the beach. But every summer, the MotoGP season hots up as the Misano circuit hosts the San Marino Grand Prix. It’s a region that’s passionate about its motorcycle racing, with legend Valentino Rossi and Andrea Dovizioso having grown up nearby.

The quick 4.2km circuit features a number of high-speed kinks alongside numerous slower, considered turns. Riders can expect to hit a blistering top speed of 300 km/h during the lap, and an average speed of 162km/h. It became a fixture on the MotoGP calendar in 2007, and has regularly hosted a maximum capacity of 60,000 fans. Between the MotoGP action, fans enjoy Moto2 and Moto3 races.

Besides the action heating up on track, fans can relax with a dip in the sea as temperatures hit an average high of 25°C in September. Tourists can explore one of the world’s smallest countries, San Marino, which was founded back in 300AD. For the ultimate view, a climb of Monte Titano offers mind-blowing views of the country from a height of 749m above sea level. Well worth the effort for the gelato waiting for you at the summit.

The circuit has two General Admission areas to offer; described as meadows, from these grassy, banked areas you can view the race, and choose from the area between the Rio Turn, Quercia Turn and Tramonto Turn - named Prato 1 - or from between the Tramonto Turn and the Curvone turn - named Prato 2.
