WEC returns to Japan and the shadow of Mount Fuji

The 6 Hours of Fuji is a highlight on the calendar in motorsport mad Japan. First run as a 1000km race in the 1960s, the race takes place at the renowned Fuji Speedway. Formerly the site of the Japanese Formula 1 Grand Prix, and set to host cycling at the Tokyo Olympics, the annual endurance race showcases this circuit at its best.

Fuji International Speedway features a long straight followed by high-speed flowing corners, before a closing sequence of tight technical turns at the end of the lap. Loic Duval holds the LMP1 track record at 1:24.6, just six seconds slower than Felipe Massa’s F1 track record at this circuit.

A short drive from central Tokyo, the Fuji circuit sits in the shadow of Mount Fuji. The seventh-highest peak on earth, the extraordinary volcano is one of the greatest sights in the country and surrounded by a number of traditional Japanese villages. A trip to the 6 Hours of Fuji will leave you with two unforgettable experiences.
