After the successful winter premier in 2021, the Rallycross World Championship returns in 2022. This time, on the last weekend in July where the spectators will experience thrilling duels on gravel and asphalt.
Equipped with of 680hp, the new RX1e vehicles can go from 0 to around 100km/p in 1.8 seconds – faster than the current crop of Formula 1 cars! Mutual contact and the well-groomed exchange of paint are part of the atmosphere. All to the delight of the spectators in the stands and in front of the TV.
The only series to drive counterclockwise at the Nurburgring
The spectacular course sees asphalt and gravel alternate with fast-paced curves and straights. In addition to the challenging surface, the driving direction is also unusual – contrary to all other racing series at the Nurburgring, the World Rallycross championship drives counterclockwise.
Rallycross explained
Rallycross combines rallying and circuit racing. It is head-to-head short, sharp races on mixed surfaces (dirt and asphalt) and has been a popular form of motorsport since its inception in the mid 1960s.
