Why go to the Abu Dhabi F1 Grand Prix
Abu Dhabi has become one of the stand out races in the F1 calendar since its inaugural edition in 2009. It has seen four titles decided on its tarmac, the most famous of which being the controversial Hamilton v Verstappen race in 2021.
The Yas Marina Circuit was designed by Hermann Tilke and was revealed to the world at the first Abu Dhabi Grand Prix in 2009. That year, Sebastian Vettel won in a Red Bull, and the Austrian constructor has enjoyed another period of domination in recent years. However, it was McLaren who took the title in 2024, despite that fact that Verstappen cruised to victory in the Drivers’ Championship in the Red Bull. Will that be the case in 2025?
Neighbouring Dubai offers racegoers a chance to visit two of the world’s top cities in one trip. In fact, many fans opt to book hotels in Dubai and travel to Abu Dhabi on race day.
Visit Abu Dhabi
The capital of the United Arab Emirates attracts millions of visitors every year. Guaranteed good weather and a wealth of ways to keep thousands of visitors entertained draws the crowds regardless of Formula 1 races.
A ticket to the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix also gets fans into some of the top attractions in the city, including Ferrari World, Warner Brothers World and Yas Waterworld, as well as the Qasr Al Watan (Palace of the Nation). The presidential palace of the United Arab Emirates is culturally one of the most important buildings in the Arab world.
Dubai – the seventh most visited city in the world – is also just an hour’s drive away from Abu Dhabi. The Burj al Arab, Dubai Mall and of course the world’s tallest building, the Burj Khalifa, are must sees in this part of the world.
Or why not head out of the cities and hold a race of your own? Renting dune buggies to speed around the vast sand dunes on the Arabian desert is an incredibly popular activity for visitors to the UAE.
