The Las Vegas Strip Circuit claims the second longest lap on the current Formula 1 calendar at 6.2km (3.8 miles). The longest circuit lap is Spa, Belgium at 7.004km.  

The Las Vegas Grand Prix is 309.9km (192.6 miles) long, making it Formula 1’s longest race.

Where is the F1 track in Las Vegas?

The Las Vegas Strip Circuit was designed by Carsten Tilke, son of Hermann Tilke, and is incorporated into the famous Las Vegas Boulevard and the one of the famous cityscapes on the planet.

The track takes in Koval Lane, goes around the newly-built Sphere arena, then turns onto Sands Avenue. Then it takes a left turn onto Las Vegas Boulevard (also known as the Las Vegas Strip) and past some of Sin City’s best known hotels and casinos. After three slow corners onto Harmon Avenue, there’s another straight then a left turn to complete the lap and back onto the permanent section of track after the pits.

As the newest track on the F1 calendar, the Las Vegas Circuit and Grand Prix is not short of talking points. Here are just a few things you may not have known about this one-of-a-kind race:

  • The circuit was designed by Tilke GmbH, with the project led by Carsten Tilke, son of racing driver Hermann Tilke.
  • Max Verstappen won the 2023 race, despite receiving a five-second penalty for pushing another driver off the track.
  • Oscar Piastri holds the lap record of 1:35.490
  • Formula 1 and Las Vegas have signed a ten-year agreement for the race
  • The Las Vegas Grand Prix is the longest Formula 1 race by distance on the calendar
  • The 2023 Las Vegas Grand Prix was the first F1 race to not take place on a Sunday since the South African Grand Prix in 1985.
