Why go to the 2025 Hungarian Grand Prix?
The Hungaroring is a historic track with fast corners that favour fearless driving and audacious overtaking. This track demands precision combined with fearless speed, meaning that drama is never far away.
The Hungarian Grand Prix has become part of the Formula 1 furniture. This historic and iconic track has enjoyed its place in the calendar since 1986. It was announced in 2023 that the Hungaroring will play host to Formula 1 until the year 2032.
A curious fact is that every world champion, barring Alain Prost and Nico Rosberg, has claimed victory at the Hungaroring since the first race held there. That includes Max Verstappen, who has won the last two.
The 2024 edition was truly a race to remember with a bittersweet 1-2 for the McLaren team, as tempers flared between Verstappen and his Red Bull colleagues.
Oscar Piastri claimed his first ever Formula 1 Grand Prix victory, becoming the seventh driver of the year to take the top step of the podium. This is already four more than the entirety of the 2023 season.
Visit Budapest
The circuit is just 25 minutes from central Budapest, one of Europe’s most popular city destinations. Known for its vibrant and yet affordable nightlife and restaurants, as well as historic architecture, the Hungarian Grand Prix experience offers so much more than the on-track action track.
Budapest is split into two main parts (Buda and Pest) by the Danube River. The city’s unique heritage stretches back to include the Celts, Romans and Ottoman Empire. Its religious buildings, including synagogs, cathedrals and abbeys, demonstrate the spiritual relevance of a city that has traditionally been a convergence point of beliefs in Europe.
The ruin bars are also a well-known feature of the Budapest nightlife. As parts of the city fell into disrepair, car parks, warehouses and historic buildings were given new life as these makeshift bars were created. Since the turn of the century they have become synonymous with the city’s identity.
Budget airlines regularly fly into the Hungarian capital, which is renowned as one of the cheapest cities to visit in Europe. Check out Visit Hungary for more inspiration on what to do in the capital Budapest
