The grand finale of the 2023 Formula 1 season is not far away. There are still a small amount of tickets for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix and if you’re looking to book accommodation, then it is advisable to do it as soon as possible.
The majority of hotels close to the circuit are fully booked for the 2023 edition, but below you find listed some a little further afield and potentially more budget-friendly.
We’ve put together a guide for accommodation options across Yas Island, Abu Dhabi and Dubai. Where will you stay for the final round of the Formula 1 season?
Accommodation options for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix
There are three main choices that racegoers opt for when attending the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. The closest would be Yas Island, where the Grand Prix is held, then the wider city of Abu Dhabi and finally, around an hour and a half away by car is Dubai.
In general, the Grand Prix experience in Abu Dhabi and many Middle Eastern countries is very different from in Europe. The only real option by way of accommodation at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix is a hotel.
AirBnb is not as popular and booking an entire apartment will also be difficult; camping is very much not an option. The good news is that between Dubai and Abu Dhabi there is an enormous wealth of options to choose from.
It is also important to note that cities like Abu Dhabi were not designed for walking. There is often no safe route to walk between relatively nearby places. Taxis are the main form of transportation, and therefore are not too expensive.
Closest hotels to the Yas Marina circuit
Here are the three closest hotels to the circuit. They are all fully booked for the 2023 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, but you can make a note of them for next year – assuming budget isn’t an issue…
W Abu Dhabi Yas Island *****
The W Abu Dhabi is so close to the circuit that it is actually incorporated in the track. The cars pass directly underneath the hotel itself! Getting to the circuit entrances is a taxi ride of just eight minutes. The Paddock is literally a stone’s throw from the hotel but to access it you need to go all the way round the track, and despite the close proximity it is not possible to walk to the track entrances.

Yas Island Rotana ****
The Yas Island Rotana is not far from the W Abu Dhabi. This is about as close as you can get to the track in terms of hotels. Considering walking isn’t really an option in Abu Dhabi, a short taxi ride takes the same as it would from the W Abu Dhabi.

Crowne Plaza Abu Dhabi – Yas Island ****
Just a little further away than Yas Island Rotana, the Crowne Plaza is a short taxi journey away from the Yas Marina circuit. This hotel back onto a golf course for those keen to spend their downtime on the green

Where to stay on Yas Island
There are many hotels available on Yas Island. However, most are totally sold out for the 2023 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, so if you want to stay in such proximity to the Yas Marina track for the Formula 1, it may have to be next year if you haven’t already booked.
As mentioned previously, walking is not really an option in Abu Dhabi or Dubai, even if the distance seems relatively short. This is definitely worth bearing in mind when choosing a hotel, as wherever you stay, you will have to take a taxi.
Here are some 5, 4 and 3-star hotel options on Yas Island – not including the three closest hotels to the track, which are listed above.

Where to stay in Abu Dhabi
There are more options once you cast the net a little further. Choosing to stay a little distance from the track on Grand Prix weekend will open up the chance for cheaper hotels and less competition.
However, the capital of the United Arab Emirates is a very large city, and the public transport is often not very direct. Here are some 5, 4 and 3-star options for hotels in Abu Dhabi, running from 20 – 40 minutes away from the Yas Marina circuit by taxi.
Most of Abu Dhabi’s hotels are located in the Corniche Area, the seafront centre of the city with many of its main attractions. It is quite a bit further away from the circuit but hotel prices drop significantly.

Where to stay in Dubai
The neighbouring Emirate of Dubai is a very popular option for racegoers to base themselves during the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. There is more choice of hotels, better prices and the opportunity to see some of the world’s most famous attractions such as the tallest building on earth, the Burj Khalifa.
Depending on where you choose to stay in Dubai could make your commute to the Grand Prix anywhere between an hour and two hours. The closest point to Abu Dhabi is Palm Jebel Ali, just a little further down the coast from the famous Palm Jumeirah, home to the viewing platform The Pointe.
Near Palm Jebel Ali are several hotel options, ranging from 5-star luxury to well-known budget options including Premier Inn and Holiday Inn.
Here are some Dubai hotel options all within an hour’s drive to the Yas Marina Circuit. Note: this is not factoring in race day traffic.

Which hotels do F1 drivers stay in in Abu Dhabi?
It is not usually revealed to the public where the Formula 1 drivers stay during the Grand Prix, and sometimes teams and drivers are in separate hotels.
However, logic dictates that they would be close to the circuit and in one of the city’s high-end hotels.
At the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix it is likely that the Formula drivers will stay in the 5-star Yas Island hotels, such as the W Abu Dhabi or the Hilton Abu Dhabi.
