While a wider choice of accommodation options can be found in Barcelona, many F1 fans will be keen to be as close to the action as possible. It’s worth bearing in mind that the nearer you want to be to the track, the more money you’ll inevitably have to spend as demand will always exceed supply.

Staying in Barcelona for Spanish Grand Prix
Barcelona is a vibrant and popular tourist destination all year round, but it truly comes alive in June when the F1 fans roll into town! The city’s rich history, stunning architecture and buzzing nightlife make it the perfect base to combine a visit to the Grand Prix with a city break.
The weather in June is usually sunny and warm without being too hot. There is also a vast array of great accommodation options to choose from, a selection of which we have included below:
Budget options
If you’re on a tight budget, there are plenty of hostels in Barcelona offering private or dorm rooms starting from as little as €20 per night. Some popular options include the modern Hostel One located in the lively Paralelo neighbourhood, with easy access to iconic attractions like Las Ramblas, Montjuic park and La Boqueria market. Factory Hostels is another great choice, located just 200 metres from Park Güell. Quirky, informal and super-friendly, this is a great base for your weekend of racing excitement. If you want to be slap bang in the heart of the city, Hotel Catalonia Avinyó is the place to you. This three-star hotel located in the Gothic Quarter is just 200 metres from Las Ramblas and a short walk from the cathedral. Alternatively, if you’d prefer to be closer to Barcelona’s main train station, the four-star Sercotel Ámister Art Hotel is located just 10 minutes’ walk away, meaning you won’t have too far to walk after a day at the track. How to get to the Spanish Grand Prix circuit from Barcelona
If you’re happy to splash the cash, a taxi from Barcelona to the circuit will cost approximately €60 to €70 with a journey time of 40 minutes. A quicker and more cost-effective option is to take the train, with direct services from Barcelona to Montmeló running every 20 minutes during race weekend, costing as little as €2.80 each way. Camping options for Spanish Grand Prix
If you’d rather not jostle for hotel rooms at inflated prices, the Grand Prix campsite is located next to Gate 6 on the southern edge of the circuit. It’s a large site but it does start to get very busy by Friday evening, so make sure you book well in advance to secure your pitch. You’ll be able to access the site from 5:00pm on Thursday 20th June until 6:00pm on Sunday 23rd. To reserve a pitch, head to the main Montmeló website (please note: bookings won’t be available until Spring 2024).

Prices are estimated, but for two people with a tent plot and car parking, an indicative total is just over €100. The cost of a campervan or motorhome plot is likely to be much higher.
Camping Barcelona: This is a large and well-equipped campsite offering a complimentary shuttle bus to the circuit (30km / 19 miles away). It features a swimming pool, restaurant, supermarket and free Wi-Fi. The price for a pitch with electricity and water is €25.50 per night for two people.
Camping Masia Can Corominas: This small and cosy campsite features a barbecue area, playground and laundry service and is located in a natural park, approximately 20km (12 miles) from the circuit. The price for a pitch with electricity is €18 per night for two people. Camping El Vedado: This is a family-friendly campsite that is situated in a forest, about 18km (11 miles) from the circuit. Boasting a pool, bar, restaurant and a mini-golf course, the price for a pitch with electricity is €22.50 per night for two people.

Barcelona bus company Sagales also run dedicated bus services from the main resorts on the Costa Brava to the circuit during the Grand Prix weekend (Saturday and Sunday only). While timetables and prices for 2024 are not yet confirmed, the indicative cost is €30 for a return trip.
How far in advance should you book accommodation for the Spanish Grand Prix?
Whether you prefer the elegant comfort of a five-star hotel or a night under the stars camping, it’s definitely a case of the early bird catches the worm. The closer to the action you want to be, the further in advance you need to book your accommodation. Some F1 fans book the same hotel in advance over multiple years, but this is mostly applicable to hotels in Montmeló or Granollers.
