Motorsport Tickets and Mastercard came together for the second consecutive year to offer a select few lucky winners a luxury experience at the legendary Goodwood Festival of Speed.
The winner of the first prize in 2024 was Peter Bingham. He was entered into the prize draw when he bought tickets for him and his son Theo to the Spanish Grand Prix with a Mastercard. This was a gift to celebrate the end of Theo’s A-levels – which we think more than makes up for missing Theo’s birthday to attend Goodwood!
Peter opted to take along good friend Nick for the ride, and shared a few special moments with us.
‘We spent the first day watching cars from the Partner’s grandstand, touring the new car stands, making our way to the off-road area before seeing out a short rain shower back in the Partner’s area.
Our second day was spent around the supercar paddock, watching the classic F1 cars being started and run to the start of the hill before being driven up the hill ourselves. We then had lunch in the Porsche cafe while watching the amazing run of Red Bull cars up the hill and back to park in front of the house – driven by a selection of past and present Red Bull drivers.’
Sounds like a pretty good weekend, right? Peter had visited Goodwood previously, back in 2013, but noticed a few changes since then.
‘The festival was larger than I recall from when I was last there, but with a great atmosphere throughout and a great mix of major brands and new cars. Red Bull in particular had bought an amazing collection of F1 cars to celebrate its 20th birthday.’
Accommodation and meals were included in the two-day prize package, so after being greeted by their host, Peter and Nick made the most of the hospitality.
‘We were well very well looked after – arriving via the VIP entrance avoided the queues and made us all feel very special! The accommodation and food were excellent – including the lunches at the Partner’s restaurant and the Porsche Cafe on Saturday and Sunday.
We were lucky enough to be driven up the hill in a Porsche Taycan – that was a real treat. We followed the classic F1 cars up the hill and were then able to mingle with the cars and drivers at the top. We saw Bruno Senna driving his uncle’s Mclaren MP4/4, Yuki Tsunoda driving the Honda RA272 and Emerson Fittipaldi in his Mclaren too.’
And they weren’t the only famous faces on show. As well as David Coulthard, Sir Jackie Stewart, Richard Hammond and Kevin McCloud, Peter also ran into Haas F1’s new driver, Oliver Bearman.
‘While waiting to travel back down the hill, I asked Oliver Bearman for a selfie to send to my son, Theo. On hearing that it was Theo’s 18th birthday, Oliver suggested recording him a video message instead, wishing him a happy birthday! It was a really kind act that made our day! We had a brilliant time at Goodwood – many thanks to Mastercard for the amazing prize!’’
A nice touch from the will-be Formula 1 driver no doubt put a smile on Theo’s face.
It’s great to hear that our winners had such a fantastic time at Goodwood Festival of Speed. We would like to join Peter in giving a special thanks to our partners Mastercard for providing this incredible prize to our valued customers.
