Getting to the Lusail International Circuit

By public transport

Most international visitors will fly into Doha, the capital city of Qatar. The circuit is 10km north of the country’s second biggest city, Lusail, which is where the track gets its name.

However, Doha is only 30km away and many racegoers will opt to stay in the city that hosted the FIFA World Cup in 2022, and commute to the Qatar Grand Prix. Doha International Airport was voted the World’s Best Airport in both 2021 and 2022 is located just 15 minutes from the city centre.

But once you’ve got to the hotel and checked in, you’ll need to know how to get to the track.

Metro

Doha’s metro was only built in 2019. The incredibly modern and efficient network links the airport to the city centre, and fans can take the metro to Lusail Metro Station on racedays. Although the line doesn’t quite reach the circuit, the race organisers put on a free shuttle bus, which only takes around 15/20 minutes.

The metro is very reasonably priced too. A return journey costs around 2 Qatari Riyal (50p) and an unlimited day pass is just 6 QR (£1.50).

Taxi

Taxis are also very reasonably priced in Qatar, and if you’re travelling in a group, it could be more comfortable to grab a cab. A one-way trip costs around 37 QR (£8.30).

One of the most popular taxi services in Doha are the easily recognisable, turquoise coloured Karwa cabs. It is worth downloading their app if you’ll be booking numerous taxis throughout your visit.
