Why go to the 2024 Qatar F1 Grand Prix?

The Qatar Grand Prix is still a relatively young race compared to others on the calendar. The Lusail International Circuit was especially built for the event, and recent developments in the public transport system have seen the Doha metro system extended right to the circuit.

The capital of Qatar has become well adapted to hosting global sporting events. Doha held the 2023 AFC Asian Cup which the hosting Qataris won, beating Jordan 3-1 in the final. They also held the 2022 FIFA World Cup, where Messi’s Argentina lifted the trophy in one of the most memorable victories in football.

Talking of football, don’t be surprised if you spot some famous faces in Doha. Last year two of the most well-known names in sport, David Beckham and Ronaldinho, were at the Qatar F1 Grand Prix among many other celebrity guests.

Doha’s infrastructure has been vastly improved as a result of these events. The Qatar Grand Prix is also one of the most affordable races on the calendar and new attractions keep thousands of visitors entertained over the race weekend.

Its new place as the penultimate race of the Formula 1 season means that Qatar could even host the title-deciding contest. Will the 2024 champion be crowned in Doha?

Visit Doha, Qatar

The city of Doha is also well-equipped with attractions for international visitors. Some of the main tourist attractions include the traditional Arabic market, the Souq Waqif, world-class shopping malls, and the Museum of Islamic Art.

Qatar is a peninsula on the Arabian coast and shares a single land border with Saudi Arabia. Just down the coast is the UAE and the cities of Abu Dhabi and Dubai, both around an hour’s flight from Doha.

Some fans may well take advantage of the proximity to the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, the final round of the season, which takes place the following weekend. Why not round off the championship with an F1 double-header and some guaranteed December sun?

While in Qatar, why not hold a race of your own? Head into the sandy dunes of Arabia to cruise around the desert in buggies. This is an incredibly popular activity among tourists so it’s worth booking well in advance.
